Steve Gore-Rowe

Recent production has been a continued exploration into the influence of natural drying processes on green wood vessels.

Steve uses combinations of traditional and contemporary woodcraft skills and is continually experimenting with new ideas and techniques to create decorative and functional products for contemporary spaces.
He considers the shapes and textures found in the natural world to be strong influences as well as the effect of the passing of time on objects left in the environment, he also encompasses experiences as a graphic designer, conservationist and woodworker.

Self-Settling Ash and Oak Vessels
The profiles of these vessels have been designed to interact with the movement in the wood, creating a silent conversion between the maker and material until an agreement has been met. Density of the material, volume of moisture, centre of gravity and proportions all have a part to play in the conversation until the piece is fully dry.
