Ruth Howes

Ruth's two-dimensional papercut work of the last decade has been evolving into 3D relief and sculpture with an emphasis on a balance of form using familiar materials, while maintaining the aesthetic qualities of minimalism.

Ruth is an artist maker. Alongside her playful, engaging and often very micro-works are new prints and studies which explore line, mass, human and environmental connections.
Her two dimensional papercut work of the last decade is evolving into relief and sculpture with an emphasis on a balance of form, while maintaining a minimalism of materials. The last twelve months of ‘new normal’ are watchfully felt in Ruth’s current work which describe the edges of life found through a shared pandemic experience. The halo’s of space between us; the walks; the queues; the search for new space and the silent assimilating of ‘it all’.
