Jane Crisp

You’ll be sure to hear her working away on the anvil with the tippy tapping sounds that are reminiscent of the traditional shipwrights that inspired her.

After graduating with a First in Furniture: Design and Craft Jane set up her practise working from borrowed spaces. Later she built a workshop and studio at her home, in beautiful Hale Fen in Cambridgeshire. After winning awards at shows all over the UK and many magazines articles her business was evolving.
She lived on a narrowboat in Norfolk observing nature closely and became interested in traditional maritime making methodologies. There is a strong biophilic language to Jane’s work, it’s poised, quiet and confident. Inspiration is taken from a combination of her life experiences and education in furniture making.
Whenever Jane’s at home there is steam bellowing from her workshop doors. You’ll be sure to hear her working away on the anvil with the tippy tapping sounds that are reminiscent of the traditional shipwrights that inspired her. Craft flows and you can tell this is a beautiful mindful place that Jane loves.
