Owl Sanctuary, 2020Smoke Drawing on paper. Maria holds a lit candle to the surface of paper and the resulting smoke and especially the soot, transfers to the surface of the paper. As the soot marks the paper Maria quickly draws with her hands and hand-crafted tools to fashion the marks into the image she has in mind.
