Viewing Room 11: Performance / sculpture by Alexander Costello

Above is a trailer for the short film showing the art performance by Alexander Costello that took place on Saturday 11 July, at Contemporary and Country based in Woolmarket House, King's Lynn.

Alexander Costello (b.1976, London) is an award-winning sculptor, video and performance artist who graduated with an MFA from the Slade School in 2001, following a First Class Honours in Fine Art at Middlesex University.

Ideas and work are generated through an interest in challenging and exposing the everyday absurdity of perceived normality; the simultaneous pursuit of the infinite and finite; the origin and location of idea; and the exploration of processes that are in themselves the truth in the work, often undermined by a resulting outcome. Misinterpretation and miscommunication of action and language, and an impulse to consistently re-consider form and composition, support and bring balance to endeavours.

"I am tanding in front of a wall" is a reprise of a performance that took place in 2000. For this edition Costello is filmed in front of a wall near Woolmarket House, on Pilot Street, King's Lynn in the days leading up to the performance.
