Viewing Room 16: Printmaking and neons by Paul Wolterink

5 December 2026 - 30 January 2027

We are showcasing a range of beautifully realised screen prints, neons and reflective signage in this Viewing Room. All designed and produced by Paul Wolterink.

We are showing a range of work by Paul Wolterink. A key collection is entitled 'The Sea Is Always Right’ and consists of three neon signs, part of an open series that brings to light the devastating storm surge of 30 January 1607 on the north Norfolk coast.
Each simplified graphic icon is a fragment of a crisp woodcut from that year, found in a Renaissance book in the Norfolk Heritage Centre.

The neon sign – the classic, seductive visual branding tool that usually tempts us with mass consumption – is now used to invite reflection on our Norfolk coastal past, present and future.
