Jane Hindmarch

Her personal perceptions expressed through colour, tone, texture, pattern and form are developed into paintings in oil or acrylic on board and canvas or more recently into abstract metal sculpture.

Jane Hindmarch is a contemporary, British, multi- disciplinary visual artist. Born in Haverford West, South west wales, she has been based for several years at Stamford Arts Centre. Lincolnshire, UK.
Various artists have influenced her practice, painters such as Howard Hodgkin, Joan Mitchell, Bridget Riley, David Hockney, Frank Auerbach, Lucy Jones. Sculptors such as William Turnbull, Barbara Hepworth, Anish Kapoor, Richard Deacon, Hans Schule, Junko Mori and Kate MccGwire.
Jane studied drawing, painting and printmaking at Foundation level at Cambridge College of Arts and Technology, BA Hons and Post Graduate Diploma Edinburgh College of Art and Erasmus scholarship at Montpellier Ecole des Beaux Arts. She also studied to become a teacher and taught art for several years at all levels.
Jane’s paintings, drawing and sculptures, explore mood and emotion evoked and informed by observations of the natural world.
Her practice engages with nature, noticing the transient changes taking place during the seasons as the climate alters throughout the year. She is interested not only in how we connect with nature but also how we see ourselves reflected in it.
Jane’s work originates from direct observation, making drawings and paintings outdoors in wild environments. These aim to realise personal perceptions as well as recording accurate information; expressed through colour, tone, texture, pattern and form.
In later stages of the creative process these elements are developed into paintings in oil or acrylic on board and canvas and into metal sculpture.
