Catherine was born in Brighton and spent her childhood working with animals on local farms helping with lambing and calving and looking after horses. From this she progressed to more exacting work on a dairy unit in Yorkshire and then onto deer farming and dairying in New Zealand working for the director of Anchor Farm Products.
Catherine went on to study at The Royal Agricultural University in Cirencester, specialising in animal nutrition and husbandry. This has been followed by a period in the antique business, working in several antique and art galleries, as well as raising a family, before starting her activities making art herself.

Her love of art has been inspired by nature and the environment developed into more abstract, constructivist painting and sculpture made up of fragments that are rusty and naturally fatigued. Her art activities provide the perfect antithesis to her busy family life. The calmness that her meticulously planned work induces is a crucial part of her creative process.
From within the confines of her portakabin studio, Catherine visualises where these pieces will be situated most comfortably within her perception of constructivist formalisation. A process of adjusting and readjusting constantly until the ultimate arrangement satisfies her aesthetic descision making, before it heads back to the farm workshop to be welded together.
