Beautifully curated by Penelope Hughes-Stanton in the former studio of her father, the painter and wood-engraver Blair Hughes-Stanton.
Set in this simple Georgian house overlooking the estuary of the River Stour at Manningtree, Essex.
Owen Hopkins, architectural writer, historian and curator writes about peter's work:
Wylie shows the building as alive with use and inhabitation, as a frame for the lives that play out inside it, rather than as a disembodied sculptural object to be marvelled at on a screen. Brutalism is without doubt the most contested of architectural styles. Wylie side-steps the polarisation in views that so often occurs when considering Brutalist buildings by revealing this one in all it's compelling complexity.

Peter's sea paintings occupy the walls among the letterpress workshop which houses several generations of printing presses, type cabinets and other, now historic, equipment. This serves to reference Peter's time on Printmaking MA at Camberwell and there is a treat to be seen here with some of his great etchings: "Suffolk Bunker Series" - seven etchings and letterpress prints imade in collaboration with poet Stephen Devereux in 2017.
The Exhibition continues until 14 June 2025
Open on Saturdays, 10am–5pm, or by appointment
